Jariya had no problem taking a nap the first day we had her alone with us. She seemed to feel we were safe.
Although we'd love to attribute this to our positive vibes, in fact she had, for months, had access a book with our pictures in it. And judging from the number of fingerprints there were on the book when we saw it at her foster mother's house, she'd not only had access, but also been actively coached and encouraged to become familiar with the faces there.
Jariya had the finest and most loving care in Thailand, and it's difficult to feel anything but sheer gratitude for all the effort the Thai people who cared for her put in.
