Goerwitz

This picture is of Richard Jr (father) with a goat he borrowed from a local farmer in 1968. The purpose of the goat was to keep the yard looking trim without necessitating mowing it.

The photo was taken by L. Richmond Brittingham ("Brit"), a photographer friend of my father's who had come out to spend the day with our family (both men worked for the railroad). It's kind of hard to imagine my dad posing for a shot. But with a cigar, beer, and a goat, the opportunity was probably just too good even for him to turn down.
