Several years ago (2003?) we sectioned off part of our back yard and planted it with flowers and deep-rooted prairie grasses. The grasses grew well for a year, then thinned, then, seemingly died out. This pattern apparently isn't all that uncommon, and lately we've seen a resurgence of some of them. Anyway, the flowers grew well througout, particularly these cup plant flowers.

Although our front yard is pretty conventional, you can see from this angle that the back is covered with garden, wild grasses, flowers, bushes, etc.
